It was evening. Dinner in the Great Hall had just ended; she was happy, and full of her favourite food. She was outfitted not in her usual kilt, but a lovely sky-blue dress. Around her neck was a glittering necklace, given to her just that afternoon. She did not have her red beret on, and Mactalon was not there. She swung around at a noise somewhere behind her. . . She had seen many other young maidens fall in love. She had never really wanted to be one of them, blushing and giggling and wearing dresses. She was, or at least had been, and tomboy (squirrelboy?) through and through. "Ah...love...ye..." The words came out, sounding as if they had been dragged from her, her northern accent becoming thicker by the second. The squirrelmaid blushed again, and looked down.
